Speed run of Resident Evil 4 on normal mode in 20 segments, completed on February 1 2005.

Author's comments:
Only IM me (at AIM-D4rkside X) or email me to ask questions if you're planning on doing a run and need help on something. I would like though, if people would IM me on ways to help improve this run, so that once my brother gets back with his GameCube, I can try another run to improve this time.

OK, for this run, I just decided to get people off their asses and finally start speed running this game. Now to the comments, in this run, I did make quite a few small mistakes in this run. I made a big mistake by going and getting the items in the garden, since I could of probably done without them, I did not get lost for everyone who is wondering. I did mess up the first time on the death paintings puzzle, but the rest of that segment was better than my others so I decided to keep that one(seg. 9). I also screwed up on the Salazar switch puzzle (not really a puzzle but don't know what else to call it) by falling down when trying to jump to the other side stupididly. Other than these that I have noticed, which I'm sure many people will see little mess ups that I made while doing this run, because I was rushing to get this, and the specials run done before I had to give the game back to my friend since I was borrowing it from him, and had to give it back to him in a couple days. Other than these little mix ups that I have noticed, I am otherwise pleased with my run, especially at the Saddler fight at the end, and on the rigs with "IT" by not getting hit while on the rigs. I could have gotten maybe a minute off the final time by skipping the final CG with Ashley, since that does add to the final time, which is around a minute 20, and I accidentally saved over the file to redo it, but since I know that this run will be beaten by at least 5 minutes. I am not really that mad about it, since I was really getting impatient with this game in that I would do something really great in a good run, or get more mag. Ammo and then something would go wrong and I would have to start all over again from the beginning, which I was really getting tired of, and really getting tired of stupid Ashley(she kept getting in the way of mace's and dieing). Hope you enjoy the run as much as I "enjoyed" doing this run for the people.

Great job but needs inprovement i admit im not the best at res4 but i do know a few tricks when you started the game you ran for the ammo and ran past the enemys but that isn't the best way you should just have went to the window jump and run in the shed and grab the ammo and then headed on it would have made things alot easier for you if you had that ammo im not trying to put you down im just trying to help but any way i think i could at least have gotten through the game in 4 1/2 hours without all the little tricks i usually do and that you did oh and what is your email address so i can email you

Subject: Starting Over
Excellent job. You're the first person I've seen to do a speedrun of this game on normal mode starting a brand new game. So far every speed run I've seen has been with special weapons or from a previous load so they start with certain things like the Tactical Vest, the XL Case, and full health. A few things could have been improved on, but major props for starting over. Excellent run. One thing I did wanna ask is this: In the section where you're Ashley, why do you rotate the first crank in the first room instead of just crawling under the desk near the wall and crawling through the hole. It's MUCH faster. I've noticed that no one does this in any speedruns, despite the fact that it saves time. Maybe it really isn't faster....I don't know. Anyway, nice run. Hope to see more.

What an amazing run, I own the game myself, and I noticed some new things you tought me, and some things I could teach you. If theres one thing I wanted to let you know it's this, When you were playing as Ashley, and you were dealing with the first crank, there is a secret craw spot to get the the next room with the 2 cranks, it's next to the gate on the far right. Also from your playing you tought me an easy way to do that crazy tile puzzle with Ashley, thanks!

Anwway, GREAT JOB!
